Tommy Harkness
Tommy Harkness was born and raised in the Bay Area. He is a multi-faceted artist - he acts, directs, writes for the screen and stage, creates electronic music and is an abstract painter. In recognition of his work as a filmmaker, Tommy’s short films Infinite Color and Devil in the Dark were named finalists at the Lift-Off Online Film Festival (2018 & 2019). At the Academy of Art University’s annual NXTUPfest, he has been nominated seven times for Best Actor (2020-24) and for his films After Midnight and How to Disappear Completely, Tommy received nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Screenplay (2023 & 2024), with After Midnight winning the Audience Award for Best Picture (2023). As a painter, he has had multiple exhibitions of his work in San Francisco, including an exclusive show at Laszlo/Foreign Cinema with his frequent collaborator Joel Gerhardson in October of 2022. Tommy lives in the Mission district of San Francisco and is working towards an MFA in Acting at the Academy of Art University.
