Jay Prodigy started his acting journey in State College, Pennsylvania at the age of nine. When one of his teachers wrote a school musical with him in mind, his mother decided to invest long term in his abilities as a performer. By the age of 11, Jay was the only black male in his ballet, tap, modern and jazz classes. As his training progressed, he started getting roles in productions like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.
Jay auditioned for Pittsburgh’s Creative and Performing Arts high school (CAPA), and was accepted for both acting and dance. He chose to major in dance, and pursued acting training outside of school. In 2008, Jay won the William Shakespeare Monologue Competition at Pittsburgh's Public Theater., which in had more than 1000 young actors competing.
After high school Jay decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. He assisted in two deployments and visited over 10 countries. Jay is currently earning his BFA in Acting at Academy of Art University. While in school, Jay has appeared in films including Netflix’s DEVS, Tales of the City and The Matrix: Resurrections.
